welcome

Welcome

Welcome to therapy, or what I like to call the Reflective Pond. I'm Brooke Hawley, a fully licensed professional counselor. I’ve been working for over 10 years in the mental health field. I’ve worked with children, tweens, teens, and early to seasoned adults. Anyone who wants to take a better look at themselves and their life is greeted with love and kindness at this pond. This pond is ready for you, no matter where you are in life. I believe therapy is a team process that can be explained by the DBT metaphor of a boat. You and I are in the therapy boat together. Both of us are working together to move the boat in the pond. By contributing to the process, I can provide guidance and support while you learn and implement new skills to navigate challenges and make progress toward your goals. I’m not sitting back and giving directions; I’m actively participating in the journey with you. At the same time, you’re not working against the process of therapy (by drilling holes in the boat). We are working together, communicating to achieve your life worth living. Your first time at the Reflective Pond, we will work to build a therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions to better get to know you and your wants. Being our first time together, you have the right to decline answering questions that you’re not ready to address. We will slowly wade into the water; there is no need to cannonball into the pond today.

Professional Supervision

One person sitting with another, thinking about what they want to say.
A group of people at a table working together.

You can sit quietly next to the pond and work on being present with mindfulness. Dip your toes in and watch the ripples in your life from using CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) skills. Or you can dive into the deep and scary with TF-CBT (trauma-focused) and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). Life can be like the muddy bottom of the pond; this is a place where I’m comfortable, and I’m willing to be there with you. I’ve worked with individuals whose lives have given them more than they can handle. Also, the opposite, where life hasn’t given them enough. Let's find the middle path between the two extremes for you.

Supervision is to ensure clients welfare, to meet and exceed ethical and professional practice standards. Along with to develop the therapist as an independent professional.  If you are a licensed counselor who is looking for clinical support. Limited licensed counselor who is working on becoming fully licensed. Or a student in a masters program in the helping profession contact Reflective Pond for more information.
